The Attitude You Carry

What kind of attitude do you carry with you every day? Does it really matter? Yes, it matters. It matters a lot. Doors for success or failure are opened and closed by your attitude.

Some people look for every opportunity to complain and criticize. Some jump at the chance to gossip. Some carry within themselves disgust for all human beings. To these people, it seems that no one ever does the right thing. No one looks the right way or says the right thing.

That is the kind of attitude they carry with them day after day. It is certainly not a formula for success in any area of life. Quite the opposite is true. It is a formula for failure.

Try that formula in a marriage. There have been many who have and their marriages fail. How many couples look for reasons to praise their spouse every day? How many look for reasons to compliment and express genuine gratitude? Having that kind of an attitude is a formula for a successful marriage.

The same holds true in the work place. Over the years, I have worked in many different fields. Many times, I have seen an abundance of criticism and complaining. People complain about management. People complain about their salary. People complain about the customers. The list at the work place is almost endless.

Where's the love? What? Yes, I said, "Where's the love?"

Think about it. Isn't it always pleasant to spend some time with someone who is a very loving and caring person? When you know someone genuinely cares about you it is so refreshing to be in their presence or just hear their voice.

When you have a loving and caring attitude, you don't look for the bad things. Instead, you look for the good, and you find it! You can always find the bad if you look for it. You can always find something or someone to criticize. You can always find something to complain about.

But you can change that kind of an attitude. And believe it or not, it really starts with the attitude that you have about yourself! Almost everyone has heard, "Love your neighbor as yourself." The truth of the matter is that you will only love and care for others to the degree that you love and care about yourself.

Far too many people just do not love themselves. It's very easy to see the shortcomings and weaknesses that we all have in our own lives. But, who is perfect among us? And yet, with all the imperfection in our lives, the Creator loves us unconditionally. So if He loves us, we ought to love ourselves, in spite of our weaknesses. Not because we're good enough or even deserve it, but because if He can and does love us, then we can in turn love ourselves.

It's with that kind of an attitude that we can genuinely love others and genuinely care about them. Do you see the connection? Love others as you love yourself. It starts with you accepting yourself and loving yourself.

Make up your mind that you are going to genuinely care about everyone you meet. And if you're married, start at home, right now.

Make a conscious effort to look for the good in yourself, in people, in things and in situations. Refuse to look for the bad. Refuse to criticize and complain.

As you really develop this, you will be amazed at what happens in your life. Your marriage will take on a new dimension. Your work or business will be directed toward success.

If only those in sales would apply this simple truth, their business would skyrocket. If they would learn to love and really care about their customers instead of just seeing them as another dollar, their business would flourish.

Think about it, who do you really like to buy things from and whose advice do you really seek out? Those you know who truly care about you.

The attitude you carry with you is opening and closing doors for you every day. Choose to love yourself and choose to love other people, and you will see dynamic results!

The ‘Intuitive Goal’ Workshop

Hello Everyone! I have had the privilege of knowing many of you for many many years. And it has been a great honor for me to be able to work with you in developing your businesses and careers. I have so loved teaching my workshops privately and in your businesses.

It was music to my ears!! I am so excited on so many levels. The fact that this ability is being recognized and accepted more and more in mainstream is fantastic. That, coupled with the new show on A&E about Psychic Children, is showing me that the general public is becoming more open to learning about these abilities.

We are all Intuitive. There is nothing "woo woo" about it. It's just that some of us have a more developed sense of Intuition than others for various reasons.

My ability as an Intuitive does run in my family. My dad is a psychiatrist. He could have a patient walk in the door and immediately have the ability to tell you everything about that person before they'd uttered a word. My grandmother was the same way and it was passed onto me. That, coupled with my business background, led to what I do today as a Business Intuitive today.

I know that the ability of being highly Intuitive, along with the fact that I had a childhood that was very stressful, dramatic, and volatile, really accelerated my need to listen and follow my Intuition very early on.

I love teaching others how to hear their Intuitive voice, clear up what is blocking them from hearing their own Intuition, and achieve their soul's purpose goals.

Can You Change in a Single Moment?

Change is a curious thing. In most areas of life you dread it, yet in others you pine for it.

You're told that change is hard, that it takes time. You're also told that change is the most consistent thing that you'll encounter. You wonder how to make lasting changes that will improve your life.

I'm here to argue that change can happen in an instant.

I know this goes against mainstream belief. Most people believe that change has to be worked at for months or even years. We expect to try and fail numerous times before we ultimately give up or succeed.

Think about it-how many people do you know who struggle with their weight? They want to make a healthy change by getting in shape, but the change never seems to take hold.

Is there something in your life that you want to change? Do you have weight to lose? Do you have high blood pressure? Do you have a pair or pants that you wish you could fit into?

What is preventing you from making a positive change in your life?

According to professional speaker and author, Anthony Robbins, it's the getting ready to change that takes times. In the end there's an instant when the change occurs. Robbins goes on to outline three specific beliefs that you must have in order to instantly create a lasting change.

Belief #1: Something must change.
Do you kind of want to get into shape or do you absolutely have to lose the weight? Does dropping a few pounds sound nice or is living another day in your current body simply out of the question? In order to make a lasting change you must be convinced that the time is right.

Belief #2: I must change it.
It is vital that you take full responsibility in making the change. Sure, others may assist you, but in the end you are the one who is going to make it happen. You have to want this change enough to make it your personal mission-no one else will do it for you.

Belief #3: I can change it.
Don't let past failures get in your way. The truth is that you can do amazing things when you put your mind to it. Believe that you are capable of losing weight or making any other positive change in your life.

Why do most people fail to make lasting change? They leave it up to willpower. This works for awhile, but you'll always revert back to what's comfortable. The solution?

Change what you're comfortable with.

You've probably heard that humans are motivated by two things: 1) to avoid pain and 2) to gain pleasure. When you want to change a behavior pattern the key is to associate pain with the behavior that you don't want and pleasure with the behavior that you do want.

You know that you want to lose weight and that to do so you need to quit eating comfort food late at night. You also know that you need to start exercising on a regular basis. Up until this point your brain is trained to associate pleasure with eating comfort food late at night and to associate pain with exercise.

It's time to retrain your brain to feel good about exercise and to feel bad about eating late at night. Think about all of the negative things about being overweight and connect these unpleasant thoughts to your late night snack. Now think about all of the wonderful things about being in shape and connect these pleasant thoughts to exercise.

This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it was expanded to include those who died in any war or military action. One of the longest standing traditions is the running of the Indianapolis 500, which has been held in conjunction with Memorial Day since 1911. It is also traditionally viewed as the beginning of summer by many, for many schools are dismissed around Memorial Day.

Many people observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. US Eastern time. Another tradition is to fly the U.S. flag at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. Volunteers place a U.S. flag upon each gravesite located in a National Cemetery.

Many politicians and community leaders give speeches at community gatherings on Memorial Day.In addition to remembrance, Memorial Day is also a time for picnics, family gatherings, and sporting events. Some Americans also view Memorial Day as the unofficial beginning of summer and Labor Day as the unofficial end of the season. The national Click it or ticket campaign ramps up beginning Memorial Day weekend, noting the beginning of the most dangerous season for auto accidents and other safety related incidents. The USAF "101 Critical days of summer" begin on this day as well. Some Americans use Memorial Day to also honor any family members who have died, not just servicemen.

Flags flying at Fort Logan National Cemetery during Memorial Day 2006.Memorial Day formerly occurred on May 30, and some, such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), advocate returning to this fixed date, although the significance of the date is tenuous. The VFW stated in a 2002 Memorial Day Address, "Changing the date merely to create three-day weekends has undermined the very meaning of the day. No doubt, this has contributed a lot to the general public's nonchalant observance of Memorial Day."

Following the end of the Civil War, many communities set aside a day to mark the end of the war or as a memorial to those who had died. Some of the places creating an early memorial day include Charleston, South Carolina; Boalsburg, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia; Carbondale, Illinois; Columbus, Mississippi; many communities in Vermont; and some two dozen other cities and towns. These observances eventually coalesced around Decoration Day, honoring the Union dead, and the several Confederate Memorial Days.

Decoration Day, c. 1900. "You bet I'm goin' to be a soldier, too, like my Uncle David, when I grow up."According to Professor David Blight of the Yale University History Department, the first memorial day was observed in 1865 by liberated slaves at the historic race track in Charleston. The site was a former Confederate prison camp as well as a mass grave for Union soldiers who had died while captive. A parade with thousands of freed blacks and Union soldiers was followed by patriotic singing and a picnic.

The official birthplace of Memorial Day is Waterloo, New York. The village was credited with being the birthplace because it observed the day on May 5, 1866, and each year thereafter, and because it is likely that the friendship of General John Murray, a distinguished citizen of Waterloo, and General John A. Logan, who led the call for the day to be observed each year and helped spread the event nationwide, was a key factor in its growth.

General Logan had been impressed by the way the South honored their dead with a special day and decided the Union needed a similar day. Reportedly, Logan said that it was most fitting; that the ancients, especially the Greeks, had honored their dead, particularly their heroes, by chaplets of laurel and flowers, and that he intended to issue an order designating a day for decorating the grave of every soldier in the land, and if he could he would have made it a holiday.

Logan had been the principal speaker in a citywide memorial observation on April 29, 1866, at a cemetery in Carbondale, Illinois, an event that likely gave him the idea to make it a national holiday. On May 5, 1868, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the Grand Army of the Republic, a veterans' organization, Logan issued a proclamation that "Decoration Day" be observed nationwide. It was observed for the first time on May 30 of the same year; the date was chosen because it was not the anniversary of a battle. The tombs of fallen Union soldiers were decorated in remembrance of this day.

Many of the states of the U.S. South refused to celebrate Decoration Day, due to lingering hostility towards the Union Army and also because there were very few veterans of the Union Army who lived in the South. A notable exception was Columbus, Mississippi, which on April 25, 1866 at its Decoration Day commemorated both the Union and Confederate casualties buried in its cemetery.

The alternative name of "Memorial Day" was first used in 1882, but did not become more common until after World War II, and was not declared the official name by Federal law until 1967 . On June 28, 1968, the United States Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Bill, which moved three holidays from their traditional dates to a specified Monday in order to create a convenient three-day weekend and for the first time recognized Columbus Day as a federal holiday. The holidays included Washington's Birthday (which evolved into Presidents' Day), Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. The change moved Memorial Day from its traditional May 30 date to the last Monday in May. The law took effect at the federal level in 1971 . After some initial confusion and unwillingness to comply at the state level, all fifty states adopted the measure within a few years, although Veterans Day was eventually changed back to its traditional date. Ironically, most corporate businesses no longer close on Columbus Day or Veterans Day, and an increasing number are staying open on President's Day as well. The holiday has endured as one where most businesses stay closed because it marks the beginning of the "summer vacation season" (similar to neighboring Canada's Victoria Day, which occurs on the prior Monday).

YOGA ASANA: Salamba Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand)
COLOR: SKIDLESS in LOAM (bija- seed, infinite growth)

COLOR INTENTION - LOAM: LOAM is the earth. Literally, it is soil composed of sand, silt and clay used for gardening and agriculture. LOAM represents FERTILITY and GROWTH. BIJA, which in sanskrit means SEED is used as a metaphor for the origin or cause of all things. The color LOAM or brown, is the combination of several colors, mostly dark yellow, orange and red, which are representative of the lowest three chakras (solar plexus, sacral, and root chakras) further reflecting the overall sense of GROUNDING and ROOTING exuded by LOAM. Our intention in using the color LOAM during this Taurus new moon is to identify our connection with MOTHER EARTH. By "digging deep" inside yourself and surrendering to the POWER of the planet, you will find what you need to flourish and grow like the BIJA, deep within the fertile ground.

AKA Supported Shoulder Stand
Begin by folding 1-3 blankets into a rectangular shape. It is important to be diligent with the folds.. think Princess and the Pea... smooth out any bumps or creases and line up the folded edges evenly.

STEP 1.
Position yourself near a wall and lie down so that your shoulders are about 6 inches away from the folded edge of the blanket. Place your feet flat on the wall hips distance, making sure your shoulders are parallel with the edge of the blanket, and you are maintaining the natural curve in your neck. Take a few breaths here...

STEP 2.
On an exhale press your arms into the ground and your feet into the wall, lifting your hips into the air. Grab your ySTRAP and loop around the wrists. Wiggle your shoulders underneath you, bringing the shoulder blades towards each other. Be careful not to roll your shoulders down away from the ears, but instead move them directly in. As you press your feet into the wall, think of releasing the sacrum towards the heels and dropping the inner thighs downward, letting the lift come from the outer hips.

STEP 3
Start wiggling the strap up the arms until it is just above the elbows, pulling the elbow towards each other and preventing splaying outward. With the backs of your upper arms flat on the ground, spin your hands so the fingers point up and the palms are flat, as high up the back as possible.

STEP 4
Begin to shift the hips over the shoulders, pushing off the wall and extending the legs straight up to the ceiling. Again feel the inner thighs rolling back and extend through the balls of the feet. Press the backs of your arms and the shoulder blades in to the mat to create a root and rebound feeling, lifting as much of your upper back away from the floor as possible. Make sure your forehead is parallel with the floor. Now, relax your tongue, your cheeks, and softly gaze toward the sternum. Be careful not to turn your head while inverted.You only want to stay in the pose as long as is comfortable for you, but generally 3-5 minutes is the correct amount of time to fully receive the benefit of the pose. To come down... on an exhale, bend your knees, dropping the thighs down to your chest and roll your back slowly to the floor, keeping the back of your head and neck down. As you roll down, imagine a strand of pearls lowering on to a glass top table, one vertebrae at a time, until your feet land on the ground.

MODIFICATIONS WITH YOGITOES PROPS...
Before you begin, measure the ySTRAP from sternum to shoulder-head and adjust accordingly. (This is your shoulder distance.) When setting up your props to begin, keep your ySTRAP handy. Once you grab the ySTRAP, you will not need to adjust the size. Work the ySTRAP up your arms and it will provide comfortable resistance while allowing you to engage in the pose.

Our intention in choosing Salamba Sarvangasana as the Taurus NEW MOON ASANA is to help further your connection to the planet, as the root your shoulders, keeping your heart grounded and lifting your feet to the sky. Perhaps take a moment to honor your feet for walking you through life and being the origin of growth as we stand on the earth. Also take some time to focus on centering and calming your mind and psyche, as this powerful new moon may produce wider emotional swings that could throw you off balance.

How to Do Yoga on the Cheap?

Taking yoga classes from an experienced instructor is the best way to begin and sustain a yoga practice. But at $15-$20 a pop, quality classes don't come cheap. If you have found that yoga classes put a strain on your wallet, here are some ideas for doing yoga on a budget.

1. Buy Classes in Bulk
By committing to a class card good for 10 or 20 yoga classes, you can save some real money. Most studios offer a substantial discount on class cards, which can bring the price of a class down to as low as $10. You will need to have the money up-front for the class card, and be a regular student to ensure that you attend all the classes you have paid for before your card expires.

2. Invest in Your Own Yoga Mat and Water Bottle
Two dollars for a mat and a dollar for bottled water may not seem like a lot, but it will quickly add up over time. With yoga mats available for purchase for a little as $20, it doesn’t take a math whiz to figure out how many rentals it takes to equal your very own mat (uh, 10?), which, by the way, will also be a lot cleaner than a communal studio mat. And carrying your own water from home not only saves money, but helps reduce waste too.

3. Do Karma Yoga
The truly broke, such as students and the unemployed, need yoga too! Those with flexible schedules (i.e., more time than money) can often trade work for classes at yoga studios, especially if they have been regulars in the past. 4. Seek Out Inexpensive Classes
Many yoga studios offer community classes at a discounted rate. These classes are often at off-peak hours, so you will need a flexible schedule for this one. Community centers, university extension programs, YMCAs and gyms are also places where yoga may be offered for less. The quality of the teaching will vary quite a bit, so it's best to go with a teacher you already know, or at least make sure the teacher is Yoga Alliance certified. In warm weather it gets easier to find free yoga classes in parks and other outdoor spaces.

5. Practice at Home
Doing yoga at home along with a video or audio download is definitely more cost-effective than attending classes, though the trade-offs are boredom and missing out on the advice of a teacher. You can even find free yoga videos and audio on the web (search free yoga). If you go this route, try to treat yourself to a class every few weeks to keep yourself inspired and on the right track.

Yoga has long been known to be a great antidote to stress. Yoga combines many popular stress-reducing techniques, including exercise and learning to control the breath, clear the mind, and relax the body. As Yoga becomes increasingly popular, more and more people are discovering the benefits this ancient practice brings to their stressful lives.

Exercise
Hatha Yoga is the physical practice of Yoga postures. There are many different types of hatha yoga: some are slow and more focused on stretching, others are fast and more of a workout. If you are looking to relieve stress, no one yoga style is superior, so pick one that meets your level of physical fitness and personality.

Any exercise will help relieve stress by keeping the body healthy and releasing endorphins, natural hormones that make you feel better. Yoga also relieves stress through stretching. When you are stressed, tension is stored in the body making you feel tight and often causing pain. The intense stretching of yoga releases tension from problem areas, including the hips and shoulders.

Breath Control
Pranayama, or breath work, is an important part of any yoga practice and one that translates well to life off the mat. At the very least, yoga increases your awareness of the breath as a tool for relaxing the body. Although breathing is an involuntary act (you have to keep doing it to stay alive), you can choose to regulate the breath. Just learning to take deep breaths and realizing that this can be a quick way to combat stressful situations is amazingly effective.

Clearing the Mind
Our minds are constantly active, racing from one thought to another, spinning possible scenarios for the future, dwelling on incidents from the past. All this mind work is tiring and stressful. Yoga offers several techniques for taming the monkey mind. One is breath work, as outlined above. Each breath is tied inextricably to the present moment; you are not breathing in the past or the future, but only right now. Focusing on each inhale and exhale to the exclusion of other thoughts is one way to clear the mind, It is also a basic meditation technique. In addition, the performance of yoga poses, or asanas, also acts as a form of meditation. The poses are so physical, and have to be done with such concentration, that all other thoughts and worries are put to the side, giving your brain a much-needed break.

Relaxation
Each Yoga sessions ends with five to ten minutes spent relaxing in corpse pose - savasana. While this enforced relaxation can be difficult at first, eventually it serves the purpose of a total release for both body and mind. Savasana transitions you back into the world feeling refreshed and equipped with the tools to combat stress in your daily life.

Earth Day is April 22, and that means it's time to think again about what you can do to help the environment. People are talking more and more about e-waste—old or broken electronic equipment—and the hazards it can pose to our great outdoors. We all rely on cell phones, computers, monitors, and other gadgets in our daily lives, and at some point they all break, wear out, or need to be upgraded. When that happens, you shouldn't just toss old equipment in the trash. Many electronics contain toxic and non-biodegradable materials that shouldn't go in the landfill. Fortunately, you've got several earth-friendly options for getting rid of your old computer. Although some PC recyclers offer assurances that your hard drive will be wiped clean of old data before it's passed along or dismantled, it's a good idea to take your own precautions first. Before you give away or recycle your computer, remove all the data from your hard drive and any removable media such as disks, PC cards, flash drives and CD-ROMs.

If your computer is less than five years old, you can probably donate it to a school or local charity. That results in even less waste than recycling! But if you decide to go this route, it's generally best to contact a local refurbisher who works with charitable organizations. They can make sure your computer is usable and running up-to-date, legal copies of software. And they're trained in proper disposal of e-waste. Ultimately, you'll save your favorite charity a lot of time and headache by working with a refurbisher.

If your computer is more than five years old or if it doesn't work, many computer manufacturers and independent companies run recycling or trade-in programs. Apple, Dell, Gateway, Hewlett Packard, and IBM/Lenovo all have their own recycling programs. In addition, several major recycling companies can take your old or broken computer and make sure it's disposed of properly.
